Assembly Required Team Managers!
Following the first Texas DI regional tournament this pastweekend in Mid Cities, an issue has arisen about the meaning of some wording in the challenge Assembly Required. A General Clarification may be issued about this, but to make sure you all are aware of this issue and the resulting decision, please read the following and have your teams determine whether or not their solutions fall within the requirements.

Sections A.5.a-A.5.c  of the challenge state that products are to be delivered “to” the Assembly Area.

For teams to receive score, equipment must  bringparts to the line or cross the line of the Assembly Area

The Solar Stage Site Requirements
Your performance site is the Black Box. When the lights are turned off it is "black".

For safety purposes we will have 2-4 night lights that will provide a small amount of light. The night lights will be on the entire time.

The power requirement for your presentation is limited to 1800 watts - A standard 120 Volt plug. Based upon the expected voltage of 120 VAC (volts alternating current) the maximum current is 15 amps. The site will have a standard orange extension cord that is capable of supplying 15 amps.

Due to safety concerns, if the presentation requires more than 1000 watts or 8 amps a GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) is required. Also, all wiring and circuits will be required to pass a pre-performance inspection to ensure no shock or short circuit hazards exist. See the Rules of the Road pg 22; section 8 - Use of Electricity.

If a team "blows or trips a circuit" time will continue unless the Challenge Master determines that it is not safe to continue.

Important news about advancing to the State Tournament
Texas DI has started an exciting new Bonus Team program to allow more teams to participate in our Affiliate Tournament in Corpus Christi. In addition to the teams who qualify for the Affiliate Tournament from each region, selected teams from across the state who came close to qualifying but didn’t quite make it will be invited to participate. These invitations will be issued in early March, and must be accepted promptly. So if your team almost qualified for advancement to the Affiliate Tournament, and you’d still like to go, hang onto your sets, props, and costumes – and most of all your creativity – and stay alert for that phone call or e-mail in early March!

Tournament Site Restrictions
The following will NOT be allowed at the tournament in your challenge solutions: Latex, helium, dry ice and silly string. Confetti was originally on this list but has been removed. Confetti is allowed in challenge solutions. Remember to check Rules of the Road about clean up requirements.
